Winter 2022 Debate Camp

RDA held another two-week debate camp for 18 students. We had teachers Kathy Duan, Simon Xu, Leia Albornoz, and Allen Wan, each leading a group of 4-5 students, which were based on grade level and debate experience. Students learned in mini lesson groups with a teacher and came together for practice debates. A tournament followed the camp for students to put together what they learned throughout the camp.

Political Engagement Camp

RDA launched a one week political engagement for a total of 9 students. The aim of this course was to provide accessible political education and create more youth political engagement. Each day covered different topics, including the basics of American politics, polarization and the effects of social media, identifying key issues, and how to take action. On the last day, students were asked to present their final project on an issue they care about and steps they could take to help.
